William H. Hunter

William H. Hunter (* in Frankfort , Kentucky ; †  1842 near Sandusky , Ohio ) was an American politician . Between 1837 and 1839 he represented the state of Ohio in the US House of Representatives .

Career

William Hunter attended preparatory schools. After a subsequent law degree and his admission as a lawyer, he began to work in Tiffin (Ohio) in this profession. Around 1825 he moved to Norwalk , where he also practiced as a lawyer. He later settled in Sandusky, where he headed the customs office in 1835. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party .

In the congressional elections of 1836 Hunter was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the 14th  constituency of Ohio , where he succeeded William Patterson on March 4, 1837 . Until March 3, 1839 he was able to complete a legislative period in Congress . After his time in the US House of Representatives, Hunter no longer appeared politically. He died under mysterious circumstances in Sandusky in 1842.
