Martin A. Foran

Martin Ambrose Foran (* 11. November 1844 in Choconut Township , Susquehanna County , Pennsylvania ; † 28. June 1921 in Cleveland , Ohio ) was an American politician of the Democratic Party . From 1883 to 1889 he was a member of the House of Representatives of the United States for 21  congressional districts of the State of Ohio.

Martin A. Foran was born in Choconut Township in Pennsylvania. There he attended public schools and St. Joseph's College. There he was schooled for 3 years. After attending school, he spent two years abroad in Ireland . He studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1874. He opened a law firm in Cleveland . From 1875 to 1877 he was the Cleveland District Attorney.

In 1882 he was elected to the US House of Representatives as a candidate for the Democratic Party. There he served as a representative of the 21st District of Ohio until 1889. He went back to Cleveland to resume his practice as a lawyer. He served as a judge on the Court of Common Pleas from January 1911 until his death in Cleveland in 1921. He was buried in Lake View Cemetery in Cleveland.
