Fremont Orestes Phillips (* 16th March 1856 in Lafayette , Allen County , Ohio , † 21st February 1936 in Medina , Ohio) was an American politician of the Republican Party . March 4, 1899 to March 3, 1901 he was a member of the House of Representatives of the United States for the 20th  congressional district of the state of Ohio.

biography

Fremont O. Phillips was born in Lafayette, Ohio. Phillips attended public schools there. In 1873 he moved to Medina, also in Ohio. There he attended high school. He then studied law at Kenyon College . In 1880 he was admitted to the bar and from then on worked as such in Medina. In his hometown he held the arbitration office . Between 1886 and 1890 he was mayor of Medina. From 1892 to 1897 he was a judge in the service of the Medina County .

In the 1898 congressional elections , he was elected to the US House of Representatives as representative of Ohio's 20th constituency. He represented his constituency for 1 legislative period, he was no longer nominated in 1900 . Afterwards Phillips worked again as a lawyer in Medina. Between 1916 and 1934 he was chairman of the Republican Party in Medina County. Between 1924 and 1932 he served again as a judge for the Medina County. Phillips died in Medina in February 1936. He was buried in Spring Grove Cemetery , Cincinnati .
