Mike Oxley

Michael Garver "Mike" Oxley (born February 11, 1944 in Findlay , Ohio , † January 1, 2016 in McLean , Virginia ) was an American politician who represented the state of Ohio in the US House of Representatives .

Life

Mike Oxley studied art and then law. In 1969 he graduated from Ohio State University with his second degree . That same year he began working for the FBI and getting involved in the Republican Party . From 1972 to 1981 he was a member of the Ohio House of Representatives . From 1981 to 2007 he was a member of Congress for the fourth constituency of Ohio. In the House of Representatives, he was also chairman of the finance committee . He was succeeded as MP by Jim Jordan .

Oxley became known outside the US, especially as co-founder and -namensgeber of collaboration with Paul Sarbanes authored Sarbanes-Oxley Act in the year of 2002.
