Stanley E. Bowdle

Stanley Eyre Bowdle (* 4. September 1868 in Clifton , Clark and Greene County , Ohio , † 6. April 1919 in Cincinnati , Ohio) was an American politician of the Democratic Party . From 1913 to 1915 he was a member of the House of Representatives of the United States for the first  congressional district of the state of Ohio.

biography

Stanley Bowdle was born in Clifton. There he attended public schools until he was 15. He completed a three-year training course at the Cramp Shipyard in Philadelphia . He studied law at the University of Cincinnati and graduated in 1889. In the same year he was admitted to the bar. He opened a law office in Cincinnati. Because of an illness he lived in Colorado for some time and in Mexico from 1897 to 1900 . After his stay in Mexico, he returned to Cincinnati and resumed his legal practice.

As a representative for the 1st Congressional District of Ohio, he was elected to the US House of Representatives in 1912 . There he represented the 1st district until 1915, his re-election was unsuccessful. He also ran again unsuccessfully for the seat of the 1st district in 1916. After returning from Washington, he became mayor of his native city. He continued to practice as a lawyer in Cincinnati until his death in 1919. He was buried in Spring Grove Cemetery .
