Joseph H. Himes

Joseph Hendrix Himes (born August 15, 1885 in New Oxford , Adams County , Pennsylvania , †  September 9, 1960 in Washington, DC ) was an American politician . Between 1921 and 1923 he represented the state of Ohio in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Joseph Himes attended his home public schools, Gettysburg College and Pennsylvania State College . He then worked in the steel industry and in banking. Politically, he joined the Republican Party . In the congressional election of 1920 he was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington in the 16th  constituency of Ohio, where he succeeded Roscoe C. McCulloch on March 4, 1921 . Since he was not confirmed in 1922, he could only complete one legislative period in Congress until March 3, 1923 .

After his tenure in the US House of Representatives, Himes became the founder, president, and chairman of the Group Hospitalization, Inc. in Washington. He was involved in business in various industries in Washington as well as in New York City , but also in other cities. Joseph Himes died in Washington on September 9, 1960.
