Peter W. Strader

Peter Wilson Strader (* 6. November 1818 in Shawnee , Warren County , New Jersey ; † 25. February 1881 in Ashtabula , Ohio ) was an American politician of the Democratic Party . From 1869 to 1871 he was a member of the House of Representatives of the United States for the first  congressional district of the state of Ohio.

biography

Peter Wilson Strader was born in Shawnee. Shortly after his birth, he moved to Lebanon with his parents . They settled there. He attended the public general education schools there. After graduating from school he was u. a. Years in a printing company. In 1835 he moved to Cincinnati . There he was u. a. active as an engineer.

As a Democratic candidate, he was elected to the US House of Representatives in the 1868 congressional elections to succeed Benjamin Eggleston . In 1869 he took up his mandate. He represented the 1st District of Ohio until 1871, in the 1870 congressional elections he lost his seat to Aaron F. Perry . After leaving Congress, he retired. He lived in Ashtabula until his death in 1881. On the Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati he was buried.
