Heman A. Moore

Heman Allen Moore (born August 27, 1809 in Plainfield , Washington County , Vermont , †  April 3, 1844 in Columbus , Ohio ) was an American politician . In 1843 and 1844 he represented the state of Ohio in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Heman Moore enjoyed an academic education. After a subsequent law degree in Rochester ( New York ) and his admission as a lawyer, he began to work in this profession in Columbus. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party .

In the congressional elections of 1842 Moore was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the tenth constituency of Ohio , where he succeeded Samson Mason on March 4, 1843 . He was able to exercise this mandate until his death on April 3, 1844. This period was marked by tension between President John Tyler and the Whigs . In addition, a possible annexation of the Republic of Texas , which has been independent of Mexico since 1836, was already being discussed. Heman Moore was buried in the Green Lawn Cemetery in Columbus.
