Mike Turner

Michael R. "Mike" Turner (* 11. January 1960 in Dayton , Ohio ) is an American politician of the Republican Party . He has been a member of the United States House of Representatives since 2003 . First he represented the 3rd district congressional of the state of Ohio, since January 3, 2013 the 10th district.

biography

Mike Turner was born in Dayton, the son of Ray and Vivian Turner. He has a sister. His high school Accounts he received in 1978 at the Belmont High School in Dayton. In 1982 he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Ohio Northern University . This was followed by the Juris Doctor in 1985 at Case Western Reserve University and the Master of Business Administration in 1992 at the University of Dayton . He practiced as a lawyer until he was elected Mayor of Dayton in 1994.

In the 2002 congressional elections , Mike Turner was elected representative of the Third Congressional District of Ohio in the US House of Representatives in Washington DC, where he took up his new mandate on January 3, 2003. As he was re-elected in all subsequent elections, including the one in 2016, he can continue to exercise his mandate today. His latest legislative term runs until January 3, 2019. He is or was a member of the Armed Forces Committee and the United States House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform . He is also a member of a total of three sub-committees. He is also a member of several Congressional Caucuses .

From 2014 to 2016 Turner was President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly .

In the wake of the civil war in Syria , Turner opposed a military strike unless Barack Obama lifted budget cuts for the Pentagon.

Mike Turner lives in Dayton with his wife Lori. He is of the Presbyterian faith .
