Lawrence W. Hall

Lawrence Washington Hall (born 1819 in Lake County , Ohio , †  January 18, 1863 in Bucyrus , Ohio) was an American politician . Between 1857 and 1859 he represented the state of Ohio in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Lawrence Hall attended Hudson College until 1839 . After studying law and being admitted to the bar in 1843, he began to work in this profession in Bucyrus in 1844. Between 1845 and 1851 he was a district attorney in Crawford County ; from 1852 to 1857 he served as an appeal judge. Politically, he joined the Democratic Party .

In the congressional election of 1856 Hall was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the ninth constituency of Ohio , where he succeeded Republican Cooper K. Watson on March 4, 1857 . Since he was not confirmed in 1858, he could only complete one legislative period in Congress until March 3, 1859 . This was shaped by the events leading up to the civil war .

After his tenure in the US House of Representatives, Lawrence Hall practiced law again. In 1862 he was arrested and imprisoned for lack of loyalty to the Union. He died in Bucyrus on January 18, 1863.
