Bob Latta

Robert Edward "Bob" Latta (* 18th April 1956 in Bluffton , Ohio ) is an American politician of the Republican Party . Since 2007 he is a member of the House of Representatives of the United States for the 5th  congressional district of the state of Ohio.

Life

Bob Latta is the son of former Congressman Del Latta . From 1959 to 1989 his father represented the same district as his son today. Bob Latta was born in Bluffton. In 1978 he received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Bowling Green State University . He received the Juris Doctor in 1981 after studying at the University of Toledo . Before Latta went into politics, he worked as a lawyer. From 1991 to 1997 he was a representative on the Wood County Council . He was then elected to the Ohio Senate for around 4 years . In the Ohio House of Representatives , he then represented the 6th District until the election to the US House of Representatives.

In 2007 Latta was elected to the House of Representatives in a by-election to succeed the late Paul Gillmor . He took up his new mandate on December 11, 2007. As he was re-elected in all subsequent elections, including the one in 2016, he can continue to exercise his mandate today. His latest legislative period runs until January 3, 2019. He is or was a member of the Committee on Energy and Commerce and three of its sub-committees. He is also a member of four Congressional Caucuses .

The devout Catholic lives in Bowling Green with his wife Marcia and their two children .
