David Fisher

David Fisher (born December 3, 1794 in Somerset County , Pennsylvania , † May 7, 1886 in Ohio ) was an American politician with the United States Whig Party . March 4, 1847 to March 3, 1849 he was a member of the House of Representatives of the United States for the second  congressional district of the state of Ohio.

biography

David Fisher was born in Pennsylvania. In 1799 he moved to Point Pleasant with his parents . There he educated himself and was then a lay preacher newspaper editor. In 1834 Fisher was a member of the Ohio House of Representatives . In 1844 he unsuccessfully applied for governor of Ohio. In 1846 he was the editor and owner of a newspaper in Wilmington .

In the elections to the House of Representatives in 1846 , he was elected to the US House of Representatives as a representative of the 2nd District of Ohio. In Congress he had a seat next to John Quincy Adams . During a session on February 23, 1848, he fell into Fisher's arms with his second stroke and died. Fisher was not a candidate for re-election in 1848 and left the House in 1849 . He moved to Cincinnati , where he again worked as an editor. In 1849 and 1850 he was a councilor in Cincinnati.

In 1886 Fisher died near Mount Holly , Ohio, and was buried in Wesleyan Cemetery , Cincinnati.
