Andrew Stuart (politician)
Andrew Stuart (born August 3, 1823 near Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania , † April 30, 1872 in Washington, DC ) was an American politician of the Democratic Party . From 1853 to 1855 he was a member of the House of Representatives of the United States for 21 congressional districts of the State of Ohio .
biography
Andrew Stuart was born near Pittsburgh in the US state of Pennsylvania. In 1834 he moved to Pittsburgh with his mother. He attended the public schools there. After attending school, he worked as an editor for a newspaper. In 1850 he moved to Steubenville to work as an editor at the American Union .
In the 1852 congressional elections , he was elected to the US House of Representatives as a representative of the 21st District of Ohio. There he represented the 21st district until 1855. After leaving, he worked as a transport company. In 1869 he settled in Washington DC, where he died in 1872. He was buried in Union Cemetery in Steubenville.
