Darius D. Hare

Darius Dodge Hare (born January 9, 1843 in Adrian , Seneca County , Ohio , †  February 10, 1897 in Upper Sandusky , Ohio) was an American politician . Between 1891 and 1895 he represented the state of Ohio in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Darius Hare attended public schools in his home country. Since March 1864 he took part in the civil war as a soldier in the Union Army . After a subsequent law degree at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor and his admission to the bar in 1867, he began to work in Carey in this profession. In 1868 he moved to Upper Sandusky. Politically, he joined the Democratic Party . Between 1872 and 1882 he was mayor of Upper Sandusky.

In the congressional election of 1890 , Hare was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the eighth constituency of Ohio , where he succeeded Robert P. Kennedy on March 4, 1891 . After a re-election, he was able to complete two legislative terms in Congress until March 3, 1895 . Since 1893 he represented there as the successor of James I. Dungan the 13th district of his state. In 1894 he renounced another candidacy.

After his time in the US House of Representatives, Darius Hare practiced as a lawyer again. He died on February 10, 1897 in Upper Sandusky, where he was also buried.
