Seneca County is a county in the state of Ohio in the United States . The county seat is Tiffin .

The county is located in northern Ohio, about 30 km to the northeast from Lake Erie , the southernmost of the 5 Great Lakes , and has an area of ​​1,431 square kilometers, of which five square kilometers are water. It is bordered in a clockwise direction by the following counties: Sandusky County , Huron County , Crawford County , Wyandot County , Hancock County, and Wood County .

Seneca County was formed from parts of Huron County on February 12, 1820 and finally organized on January 22, 1824. It was named after the North American Indian people of the Seneca , whose reservation was here.

As of the 2000 census , Seneca County had 58,683 people in 22,292 households and 15,738 families. The population density was 41 people per square kilometer.
