The county is located in southern Ohio and has an area of ​​1,092 square kilometers, of which three square kilometers are water. It is bordered in a clockwise direction by the following counties: Vinton County , Gallia County , Lawrence Counties , Scioto Counties , Pike Counties , and Ross Counties .

history

Jackson County was formed on January 12, 1816 from parts of Athens, Gallia, Ross and Scioto Counties. It was named after Andrew Jackson , the first governor of Florida , a general in the British-American War from 1812 to 1814 and seventh president of the United States.
