Union County is a county in the state of Ohio in the United States . The county seat is Marysville .

The county is located just east of the geographic center of Ohio and covers an area of ​​1,132 square kilometers, one square kilometer of which is water. It is bordered in a clockwise direction by the following counties: Marion County , Delaware County , Franklin County , Madison County , Champaign County , Logan County, and Hardin County .

history

Union County was formed on January 10, 1820 from parts of Delaware, Franklin. Logan and Madison Counties formed. It was named after its formation, which it united four parts of different counties.

Seven structures and sites in the county are on the National Register of Historic Places (as of May 19, 2018).

As of the 2000 census , Union County had 40,909 people in 14,346 households and 10,888 families. The population density was 36 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 95.25 percent white, 2.81 percent African American, 0.18 percent Native American, 0.54 percent Asian, 0.02 percent of residents from the Pacific island area and 0.22 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 0.98 percent were descended from two or more races. The median income for a household in the 51,743 USD , and the median income for a family was 58,384 USD. Males had a median income of $ 40,910 versus $ 27,405 for females. The per capita income was $ 20,577. 3.6 percent of families and 4.6 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
