Miami County is a county in the US state of Ohio . The county seat is Troy .

The county is located in western Ohio, about 45 km from the Indiana border, and has an area of 1,060 square kilometers, of which six square kilometers are water. It is bordered in a clockwise direction by the following counties: Shelby County , Champaign County , Clark County , Montgomery County, and Darke County .
history
Miami County was formed on January 16, 1807 from parts of Montgomery County. It was named after either the Miami or the Great Miami River .
The county has a National Historic Landmark , the Eldean Covered Bridge . 44 buildings and sites in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (as of May 15, 2018).

According to the 2000 census , Miami County had 98,868 people in 38,437 households and 27,943 families. The population density was 94 inhabitants per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 95.78 percent white, 1.95 percent African American, 0.19 percent Native American, 0.79 percent Asian, 0.01 percent of residents from the Pacific island area and 0.28 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 1.00 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 0.73 percent of the population.
Of the 38,437 households, 33.3 percent had children and young people under the age of 18 living with them. 59.5 percent were married couples living together, 9.7 percent were single mothers, 27.3 percent were non-families, 23.2 percent were single households and 9.5 percent had people aged 65 years or over. The average household size was 2.54 and the average family size was 2.99 people.
For the entire county, the population was composed of 25.9 percent of residents under 18 years of age, 7.6 percent between 18 and 24 years of age, 28.4 percent between 25 and 44 years of age, 24.8 percent between 45 and 64 years of age 13.2 percent were 65 years of age or over. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 96.2 males. For every 100 women aged 18 or over there were statistically 92.4 men.
The median income for a household in the county is $ 44,109 , and the median income for a family is $ 51,169. Males had a median income of $ 37,357 versus $ 25,493 for females. The per capita income was $ 21,669. 5.1 percent of families and 6.7 percent of the population are below the poverty line. 9.1 percent of these were children or adolescents under 18 years of age and 5.6 percent were people over 65 years of age.
