Shelby County is a county in the state of Ohio in the United States . The county seat is Sidney .

The county is located in western Ohio, about 45 km from the Indiana border, and covers an area of ​​1,065 square kilometers, of which 5 square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Auglaize County , Logan County , Champaign County , Miami County, and Darke County .

history

Shelby County was formed on January 7, 1819 from parts of Miami County. It was named after Isaac Shelby , a general in the American Revolutionary War and later the fifth governor of Kentucky .

The county has a National Historic Landmark , the People's Federal Savings and Loan Association . 18 structures and sites in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (as of May 18, 2018).
