Paulding County is a county in the state of Ohio in the United States . At the 2010 census , the county had 19,614 people and a population density of approximately 18 people per square kilometer. The county seat is Paulding, Ohio .

The county is located in northwest Ohio, borders Indiana to the west and has an area of 1077 square kilometers, of which seven square kilometers are water. In Ohio, it is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Defiance County , Putnam County , Van Wert County, and Allen County .
history
Paulding County was formed from parts of Darke County on February 20, 1820 and finally organized in 1839. It was named after John Paulding , an important figure in the American War of Independence . Several counties and places were named after him.
Four buildings in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (as of May 11, 2018).

According to the 2000 census , Paulding County's population was 20,293. 125 of them lived in collective accommodation, the other residents lived in 7,773 households and 5,689 families. The population density was 19 inhabitants per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 95.85 percent white, 0.96 percent African American, 0.29 percent Native American, 0.15 percent Asian, 0.01 percent of residents from the Pacific island area and 1.41 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 1.33 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 3.02 percent of the population.
Of the 7,773 households, 34.1 percent had children and adolescents under the age of 18 living with them. 60.9 percent were married couples living together, 8.1 percent were single mothers, 26.8 percent were non-families, 23.0 percent were single households and 10.3 percent had people aged 65 years or over. The average household size was 2.59 and the average family size was 3.06.
For the entire county, the population was composed of 26.8 percent of residents under the age of 18, 8.6 percent between 18 and 24 years of age, 28.0 percent between 25 and 44 years of age, and 24.0 percent between 45 and 64 years of age 12.6 percent were 65 years of age or over. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 96.7 males. For every 100 women aged 18 or over there were statistically 95.4 men.
The median income for a household in the 40,327 USD , and the median income for a family was 45,481 USD. Males had a median income of $ 35,809 versus $ 21,965 for females. The per capita income was $ 18,062. 4.9 percent of families and 7.7 percent of the population were below the poverty line. This included 9.5 percent of children and adolescents under 18 years of age and 7.1 percent of people aged 65 and over.
