The county is located just a few miles northwest of the geographic center of Ohio and has an area of ​​1,181 square kilometers, of which 35 square kilometers are water. It is bordered by counties in a clockwise direction: Marion County , Morrow County , Knox County , Licking County , Franklin County, and Union County .

history

Delaware County was formed on February 10, 1808 from parts of Franklin County. It was named after the Delaware Indians .

As of the 2000 census , Delaware County had 109,989 people in 39,674 households and 30,668 families. The population density was 96 inhabitants per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 94.25 percent white, 2.52 percent African American, 0.14 percent Native American, 1.54 percent Asian, 0.03 percent of residents from the Pacific island area and 0.38 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 1.14 percent were descended from two or more races. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 98.0 males. For every 100 women aged 18 or over there were 94.9 men.

The median income for a household in the city was $ 67,258 , and the median income for a family was $ 76,453. Males had a median income of $ 51,428 versus $ 33,041 for females. The per capita income was $ 31,600. 3.8 percent of the population and 2.9 percent of families are below the poverty line. Of these, 4.4 percent were children or adolescents under 18 years of age and 4.8 percent were people over 65 years of age.
