Carroll County is a county in the state of Ohio in the United States . The county seat is Carrollton .

The county is located almost in the far east of Ohio, about 25 miles from the Pennsylvania and West Virginia borders , and covers an area of ​​1,033 square kilometers, of which eleven square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Columbiana County , Jefferson County , Harrison County , Tuscarawas County, and Stark County .

history

Carroll County was formed on December 25, 1832 from parts of Columbiana, Harrison, Jefferson, Stark and Tuscarawas Counties. It was named after Charles Carroll , the last surviving signer of the US Declaration of Independence in 1776.

Ten structures and sites in the county are on the National Register of Historic Places (as of April 7, 2018).

Carroll County's population was 28,836 as of the 2000 census . 366 of these people lived in collective accommodation, the other residents lived in 11,126 households and 8,155 families. The population density was 28 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 98.20 percent white, 0.54 percent African American, 0.32 percent Native American, 0.11 percent Asian, 0.02 percent of residents from the Pacific island area and 0.09 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 0.71 percent were descended from two or more races. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females there were 98.0 males. For every 100 women aged 18 or over there were statistically 95.4 men.

The median income for a household in the county is $ 35,509 , and the median income for a family is $ 41,114. Males had a median income of $ 31,611 versus $ 21,285 for females. The per capita income was $ 16,701. 8.5 percent of families and 11.4 percent of the population were below the poverty line. Of these, 17.2 percent were children or adolescents under 18 years of age and 11.1 percent were people over 65 years of age.
