Geography and traffic
Malvern was on the Great Trail , a route that the Native Americans had created between the Great Lakes area and the later New England states on the Atlantic coast. Although the Great Trail was later often referred to as the "War Trail," it was primarily a trade route. Instead of the Great Trail, Ohio State Route 183 now runs from Minerva to Malvern through Carroll County. There is a "historical marker" on the Great Trail in Malvern Park. On this plaque is to be read that here the forces of General Lachlan McIntosh pitched on 13 and 14 November 1776 a camp when they during the American Revolutionary War went on the Great Trail west to Fort Laurens , west of the Tuscarawas Rivers in of today's Bolivar municipality .
history
In 1806, settlers came to the Malvern area for the first time and built their huts here. The first house dates back to 1824 and was owned by Nate and Florence Ware. William Hardesty submitted a zoning plan to establish a parish in 1835, and in 1869 this parish became independent.
