Preble County is a county in the state of Ohio in the United States . The county seat is Eaton .

The county is located in southwest Ohio, borders Indiana to the west and has an area of ​​1,104 square kilometers, of which four square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Darke County , Montgomery County , Butler County , Union County, Indiana, and Wayne County, Indiana.

history

Preble County was formed on February 15, 1808 from parts of Butler County and Montgomery County. It was named after Edward Preble , a naval officer in the American Revolutionary War .
