Paul Fornshell Schenck (born April 19, 1899 in Miamisburg , Ohio , †  November 30, 1968 in Dayton , Ohio) was an American politician . Between 1951 and 1965 he represented the state of Ohio in the US House of Representatives .

Career

In 1908 Paul Schenck came to Dayton with his family. He attended Steele High School until 1917 , where he taught as a teacher between 1917 and 1919. From 1919 to 1923 he worked as a car mechanic. He then taught this subject at Roosevelt High School in Dayton until 1929 . At this school he also headed the athletics department. Between 1929 and 1935 he served as Director of Recreation for the City of Dayton Recreation and Recreation Division . Since 1935 Schenck was active in the real estate and insurance business. From 1941 to 1950 he was a member and chairman of the education committee in his hometown for seven years. Between 1946 and 1947 he also acted as deputy head of the local security committee. He was also chairman of the Dayton Real Estate Committee from 1947 to 1949.

Politically, Schenck was a member of the Republican Party . After the resignation of the House of Representatives Edward G. Breen , he was elected as its successor to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC at the by-election due for the third seat of Ohio , where he took up his new mandate on November 6, 1951. After six re-elections, he could remain in Congress until January 3, 1965 . During his time in Congress, the Korean War and, domestically, the civil rights movement fell . In addition, the Vietnam War began at that time . Schenck was a member of the committee for domestic and foreign trade. In 1964 he was not re-elected. He died on November 30, 1968 in Dayton, where he was also buried.
