Stephen Morgan

Stephen Morgan (born January 25, 1854 in Jackson County , Ohio , †  February 9, 1928 in Magnetic Springs , Ohio) was an American politician . Between 1899 and 1905 he represented the state of Ohio in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Stephen Morgan attended his home public schools, Central College in Worthington and Normal University in Lebanon . Then he began a long career in school service. He started out as a teacher in Jackson County for several years. He then worked as a school auditor for nine years. He then headed the Oak Hill Academy as Principal for 15 years . Politically, he joined the Republican Party .

In the congressional election of 1898 , Morgan was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the tenth constituency of Ohio , where he succeeded Lucien J. Fenton on March 4, 1899 . After two re-elections, he was able to complete three legislative terms in Congress by March 3, 1905 . In 1904 it was not confirmed. After serving in the US House of Representatives, Morgan settled in Columbus . At the same time he withdrew from the public. He died in Magnetic Springs on February 9, 1928.
