Charles N. Lamison

Charles Nelson Lamison (* 1826 in Columbia County , Pennsylvania , †  April 24, 1896 in Topeka , Kansas ) was an American politician . Between 1871 and 1875 he represented the state of Ohio in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Charles Lamison was tutored privately. In 1836 he came to Dalton , Ohio with his father . After studying law and being admitted to the bar in 1848, he began to work there in this profession. In 1852 he moved his residence and his office to Lima . From 1853 to 1855 and again from 1857 to 1859 he was a prosecutor in Allen County . During the civil war he served in the army of the Union , in which he rose to major. After the war he practiced as a lawyer again. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party . In 1866 he ran unsuccessfully for the US House of Representatives.

In the congressional elections of 1870 Lamison was then elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the fifth constituency of Ohio , where he succeeded William Mungen on March 4, 1871 . After re-election, he was able to complete two legislative terms in Congress until March 3, 1875 . In 1874 he renounced another candidacy.

After his time in the US House of Representatives, Charles Lamison worked as a lawyer again, mainly representing some railway companies. In 1892 he was appointed federal commissioner for the land registry in Dodge City . He died on April 24, 1896 in Topeka and was buried in Lima.
