Eric David Fingerhut (*  6. May 1959 in University Heights , Ohio ) is an American politician of the Democratic Party . January 3, 1993 to January 3, 1995 he was a member of the House of Representatives of the United States for the 19th  congressional district of the state of Ohio.

biography

Foxglove was born in University Heights. He received his BS from Northwestern University in 1981 and another law degree from Stanford University in 1984 . He then worked as a lawyer in Cleveland . Fingerhut served in the Ohio Senate from 1991 to 1993 . In the 1992 congressional election , Fingerhut was elected as a representative of the 19th constituency of Ohio to the House of Representatives in Washington, DC. In 1994 he was replaced by Steve LaTourette . After his defeat, he won another seat in the Ohio Senate, where he sat from 1999 to 2006.

In the 2004 Senate elections , Fingerhut ran for the Democratic Party against incumbent Senator George Voinovich . He won 36.% of the vote and was unable to enter the Senate. In January 2006, Fingerhut announced his candidacy for governor of Ohio. In February 2006 he withdrew his candidacy. From 2007 to 2011, Fingerhut was in charge of school policy in Governor Ted Strickland's cabinet . This proposed him in 2011 for the presidency of the University of Kentucky . Eli Capilouto was selected in his place .
