Job Evans Stevenson (* 10. February 1832 in Union Township , Ross County , Ohio , † 24 July 1922 in Corinth , Kentucky ) was an American politician of the Republican Party . March 4, 1869 to March 3, 1873 he was a member of the House of Representatives of the United States for the second  congressional district of the state of Ohio.

biography

Stevenson was born in Union Township. After attending school, he studied law . After graduating, he became a practicing lawyer in Chillicothe . He was also active in agriculture. From 1859 to 1862 he worked as a solicitor for the city of Chillicothe . From 1863 to 1865 he was a member of the Ohio Senate . In 1864 he ran for a seat in the US House of Representatives for the first time. In 1865 he moved to Cincinnati .

In 1868 his renewed candidacy for a seat in the US House of Representatives was then successful. He represented the second district of Ohio there for two legislative terms. After the end of his political career, he returned to his traditional profession. Before his death, Stevenson moved to Corinth, where he died on July 24, 1922 at the age of 90. He was buried in the Yellow Bud Cemetery in his hometown.
