Erasmus Darwin Peck (born September 16, 1808 in Stafford , Connecticut , †  December 25, 1876 in Perrysburg , Ohio ) was an American politician . Between 1870 and 1873 he represented the state of Ohio in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Erasmus Peck attended the public schools in Monson ( Massachusetts ). After a subsequent medical degree at Yale College and his license to practice medicine in 1829, he began to work in this profession from 1830 in Portage County , Ohio. In 1834 he moved his residence and practice to Perrysburg. He later became a member of the Republican Party founded in 1854 . Between 1856 and 1859 he was a member of the Ohio House of Representatives .

After the death of MP Truman H. Hoag , Peck was elected as his successor to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where he took up his new mandate on April 23, 1870 when the by-election was due for the tenth seat of Ohio . After being re-elected, he could remain in Congress until March 3, 1873 . In 1872 he renounced another candidacy.

After the end of his time in the US House of Representatives, Erasmus Peck practiced again as a doctor in Perrysburg, where he died on December 25, 1876.
