George P. Ikirt (1891)

George Pierce Ikirt (born November 3, 1852 in Columbiana County , Ohio , † February 12, 1927 in East Liverpool , Ohio) was an American politician of the Democratic Party . March 4, 1893 to March 3, 1895 he was a member of the House of Representatives of the United States for the 18th  congressional district of the state of Ohio.

biography

Ikirt was born in Columbiana County. He attended school in Lisbon . His or part thereof Jura -Studies he had to cancel due to health problems. After overcoming this, he studied human medicine at Ohio State University . He graduated there in 1877. He then worked as a doctor in Ohio and in New York City , where he also trained. In 1888 he ran for the first time for the Democrats as Congressman, but to no avail.

In 1892 his candidacy in the 18th District of Ohio was then successful. However, he only served one legislative period and then left. He went back to Ohio and settled in East Liverpool as a doctor. Ikirt died there in 1927. He was married twice and the father of six children.
