John A. Caldwell

John Alexander Caldwell (born April 21, 1852 in Fairhaven , Ohio , † May 24, 1927 in Cincinnati , Ohio) was an American politician.

Caldwell was a teacher for several years. He graduated from the Law School of the University of Cincinnati , and graduated 1876th In the same year he was accepted into the bar. Then he worked again as a teacher. In 1878 Caldwell began practicing in Cincinnati. From 1881 to 1885 he was a prosecutor at the Cincinnati Police Court. In 1887 he was elected judge there.

Caldwell was elected as a Republican to Congress and represented there from March 4, 1889 to May 4, 1894, when he resigned, the state of Ohio in the US House of Representatives . He then held the post of mayor of Cincinnati from 1894 to 1897 and was from 1900 to 1902 Lieutenant Governor of Ohio. He died in Cincinnati in 1927 and was buried in Spring Grove Cemetery .
