Maureen O'Connor
Maureen O'Connor (born August 7, 1951 in Washington, DC ) is an American politician and lawyer . She was lieutenant governor of the state of Ohio from 1999 to 2003 .
Career
In 1973, Maureen O'Connor graduated from Seton Hill College . After studying law at the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law and being admitted to the bar in 1980, she began working in this profession in Summit County , Ohio. From 1985 to 1993 she worked there as a debt restructuring judge. Then she was an Appellate Judge in Summit County from 1993 to 1995. Between 1995 and 1999 she served as a prosecutor in the same district. Politically, she joined the Republican Party .
In 1998, O'Connor was elected Lieutenant Governor of Ohio alongside Bob Taft . She held this office between 1999 and 2003. She was Deputy Governor . She has been a judge at the Supreme Court of Ohio since 2003 . Since 2011 she has presided over this court as Chief Justice .
