Harry L. Gordon

Harry Lincoln Gordon (born August 27, 1860 in Metamora , Franklin County , Indiana , †  November 1, 1921 in Cincinnati , Ohio ) was an American politician . Between 1902 and 1904 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Ohio.

Career

Harry Gordon attended public schools in his homeland. In 1882 he graduated from DePauw University in Greencastle , where he studied mathematics. After a subsequent law degree and his admission as a lawyer, he began to work in this profession in Wichita ( Kansas ). There he struck a political career as a member of the Republican Party . He was elected to the Wichita City Council and served in the Kansas Senate in 1895 and 1896 . In December 1896 he moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, where he practiced as a lawyer again. He also continued his political career in his new hometown. He became a member and in 1900 chairman of the city council.

After the resignation of Lieutenant Governor Carl L. Nippert , who took up a judge's post , Gordon was appointed by Governor George K. Nash as his successor. He held his new office between 1902 and 1904. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate . In 1905, Gordon ran unsuccessfully for the office of mayor of Cincinnati. Then he withdrew from politics. He was a member of several organizations and associations and died on November 1, 1921 in Cincinnati.
