John W. Donahey

John William Donahey (born August 26, 1905 in New Philadelphia , Ohio , †  March 2, 1967 in Columbus , Ohio) was an American politician . Between 1959 and 1963 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Ohio.

Career

John Donahey was the son of Governor A. Victor Donahey (1873-1946). There is no information in the sources about his childhood or youth. What is certain is that he lived in the city of Alliance at least for a time . He became a member of the Democratic Party . In July 1960 he took part as a delegate at the Democratic National Convention in Los Angeles , at which John F. Kennedy was nominated as a presidential candidate.

In 1958, Donahey was elected lieutenant governor of Ohio alongside Michael DiSalle . He held this office between 1959 and 1963. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate . John Donahey was married to Gertrude Walton (1908-2004), who was Ohio State Secretary of the Treasury between 1971 and 1983. He died on March 2, 1967 in Columbus.
