Earl D. Bloom (born May 29, 1871 in Wood County , Ohio , †  June 8, 1930 in Toledo , Ohio) was an American politician . Between 1917 and 1919, from 1923 to 1925 and in 1927 and 1928 he was Lieutenant Governor of the State of Ohio.

Career

Earl Bloom attended public schools in his home country. After that he worked as a teacher for some time. After studying law at Ohio Northern University and being admitted to the bar in 1895, he began to work in this profession, first in Bloomdale and later in Bowling Green . He also got into the banking industry. Politically, he became a member of the Democratic Party . In 1916, 1920 and 1924 he took part as a delegate at the respective Democratic National Conventions .

In 1916 Bloom was elected lieutenant governor of Ohio alongside James M. Cox . He held this office between 1917 and 1919. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate . At the same time he was director of the Red Cross in Wood County. Between 1923 and 1925 he was under Governor A. Victor Donahey again lieutenant governor of his state. In 1924, his attempt to be re-elected in his party's primary election failed. In 1926 he was elected for the third time to the post of lieutenant governor, which he held for the last time between January 10, 1927 and April 1928. Then he resigned to become Ohio Secretary of Commerce. In the 1928 elections, Bloom ran unsuccessfully in his party's gubernatorial primaries. He died in Toledo on June 8, 1930.
