Francis Wilcox Treadway (born January 7, 1869 in New Haven , Connecticut , †  December 24, 1925 ) was an American politician . Between 1909 and 1911 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Ohio .

Career

Francis Treadway came to Cleveland , Ohio from Connecticut at the age of ten . He attended the public schools in his respective homeland. He then graduated from the Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts . After studying law at Yale University and being admitted to the bar in 1892, he began working for a law firm in Cleveland. Politically, he joined the Republican Party . In 1902 and 1903 he was federal commissioner for Cleveland ( United States commissioner of Cleveland ). Between 1903 and 1905 he was a member of the Ohio House of Representatives , where he campaigned for an improvement in the education system. He also became chairman of the then newly created bank committee. He was involved in a reform of the banking system.

In 1908 Treadway was elected Lieutenant Governor of Ohio alongside Andrew L. Harris . He held this office between 1909 and 1911. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate . In 1910 he was not re-elected. After serving as Lieutenant Governor, Treadway worked as a private businessman. He was the president of several companies and a member of numerous organizations and associations. In 1916 he was a substitute delegate to the Republican National Convention . He died on December 24, 1925.
