Alphonso Hart

Alphonso Hart (born July 4, 1830 in Vienna , Ohio , † December 23, 1910 in Washington, DC ) was an American politician.

Hart studied law in Warren , Ohio. He was inducted into the bar on August 12, 1851, practicing in Ravenna , Ohio. From 1861 to 1864 he was a Portage County attorney . In 1865, 1872 and 1873 he was a member of the Ohio Senate. After that, he practiced from 1873 to 1875, a term as lieutenant governor ( lieutenant governor ) of Ohio.

Hart was elected as a Republican to the 48th Congress , where he represented the state of Ohio in the US House of Representatives from March 4, 1883 to March 3, 1885 . His attempt to be elected to the 49th Congress failed.

He died in Washington DC in 1910 and was buried in Maple Grove Cemetery in Ravenna.
