John H. Arnold

John Holmes Arnold (born December 11, 1862 in Freeport , Armstrong County , Pennsylvania , †  March 29, 1944 in Columbus , Ohio ) was an American politician . Between 1915 and 1917 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Ohio.

Career

John Arnold attended public schools in Pittsburgh . Since October 1885 he lived in Columbus, where he worked as a mechanic for the railroad, he was also active in the wood industry and later in the oil business. After studying law and being admitted to the bar in 1894, he began to practice this profession. Politically, he joined the Republican Party . He was a supporter of the trade unions and was in favor of restricting entry to the United States.

In 1914, Arnold was elected lieutenant governor of Ohio alongside Frank B. Willis . He held this office between 1915 and 1917. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate . After his time as Vice-Governor, Arnold no longer appeared politically. He was a member of several organizations and associations, including the Freemasons and the Knights of Pythias , and died on March 29, 1944 in Columbus.
