Charles Brand (born November 1, 1871 in Urbana , Champaign County , Ohio , †  May 23, 1966 in Melbourne Beach , Florida ) was an American politician . Between 1923 and 1933 he represented the state of Ohio in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Charles Brand attended public schools in his home country and then Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware . Later he worked in Urbana in agriculture, crafts and banking. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party . In 1911 and 1912 he was a member and president of the Urbana City Council. He was a member of the Ohio Senate from 1921 to 1922 . In 1921 he was also on an advisory commission for the War Finance Corporation .

In the 1922 congressional election , Brand was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the seventh constituency of Ohio , where he succeeded Simeon D. Fess on March 4, 1923 . After four re-elections, he was able to complete five legislative terms in Congress by March 3, 1933 . These had been shaped by the events of the Great Depression since 1929 . In 1932 he renounced another candidacy.

After his tenure in the US House of Representatives, Charles Brand resumed his previous activities until he retired. He died on May 23, 1966 in Melbourne Beach at the age of 94.
