Charles Marley Anderson (born January 5, 1845 in Mifflintown , Juniata County , Pennsylvania , †  December 28, 1908 in Greenville , Ohio ) was an American politician . Between 1885 and 1887 he represented the state of Ohio in the US House of Representatives .

Career

In 1855, Charles Anderson came from Pennsylvania to Darke County , Ohio with his parents . He attended the public schools in his respective homeland. During the Civil War he served in the Union Army between 1861 and 1865 . After the war, he continued his education at Lebanon Normal School in Ohio. After studying law and being admitted to the bar in 1868, he began working in this profession in Greenville. He was also the manager of the Central Branch of the National Soldiers' Home in Dayton for 20 years . Politically, he became a member of the Democratic Party .

In the congressional election of 1884 , Anderson was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the fourth constituency of Ohio , where he succeeded Benjamin Le Fevre , who moved to the fifth district, on March 4, 1885 . Since he was no longer nominated for re-election by his party in 1886, he could only complete one legislative period in Congress until March 3, 1887 .

After his time in the US House of Representatives, Charles Anderson practiced as a lawyer again. In the years 1892 and 1893, he was State Representative for Ohio at the World's Fair in Chicago . He died on December 28, 1908 in Greenville, where he was also buried.
