Carl West Rich (* 12. September 1898 in Cincinnati , Ohio , † 26 June 1972 ) was an American politician of the Republican Party . From 1963 to 1965 he was a member of the House of Representatives of the United States for the first  congressional district of the state of Ohio.

biography

Carl West Rich was born in Cincinnati. He attended Walnut Hills High School there. At the University of Cincinnati he received his bachelor's degree from the College of Liberal Arts in 1922 and his Bachelor of Laws from the College of Law in 1924 . He was then admitted to the bar and opened a law firm in Cincinnati. From 1925 to 1929 he served as the Cincinnati District Attorney . He was a prosecutor in Hamilton County from 1938 to 1947. From 1947 to 1956 he was a member of Cincinnati City Council for nine years and mayor of that city several times . He was also the CEO of the Cincinnati Royals .

As a representative of the 1st District of Ohio, he was sent to the House of Representatives in Washington, DC for a term in 1963 . He went back to his legal work after leaving Congress.

Rich died in Cincinnati in 1972 at the age of 73. He was buried in Spring Grove Cemetery .
