Steve Stivers (* 24. March 1965 in Ripley , Brown County , Ohio ) is an American politician of the Republican Party . Since January 3, 2011, he is a member of the House of Representatives of the United States for the 15th  congressional district of the state of Ohio.

Steve Stivers was born in Ripley. There he also spent his childhood. In 1989 he received his Bachelor of Arts from Ohio State University . He also received his Master of Business Administration from Ohio State in 1996. After completing his studies, he worked in various professions in the private sector. Between 1988 and 2008 he served in the Ohio National Guard. In 2004 he was called to active service due to the international activities of the USA. He served in the Iraq war . For his work there he received the Bronze Star . From 2003 to 2008 he was a member of the Ohio Senate . In the 2008 congressional elections he ran unsuccessfully for the seat of the 15th district, in the 2010 elections he was able to win the seat of Mary Jo Kilroy and has represented the 15th district of Ohio in the US House of Representatives since January 3, 2011. As he was re-elected in all subsequent elections, including the one in 2016, he can continue to exercise his mandate today. His latest legislative term runs until January 3, 2019. He is or was a member of the United States House Committee on Financial Services and two of its sub-committees, as well as the United States House Committee on Rules . He is also a member of the Republican Study Committee , the inner-party alliance Republican Main Street Partnership and the Congressional Arts Caucus .

He lives in Columbus with his wife Karen and daughter Sarah . He is a methodist .
