George W. Crouse (1887)

George Washington Crouse (*  23. November 1832 in Tallmadge , Ohio ; †  5 January 1912 in Akron , Ohio) was an American politician of the Republican Party . March 4, 1887 to March 3, 1889 he was a member of the House of Representatives of the United States for the 20th  congressional district of the state of Ohio.

biography

Crouse was born in Tallmadge in 1832. There he attended public schools for five years. He then moved to Akron. Initially, he worked there in various positions at Summit County . Before the Civil War he was employed as manager of C. Aultman & Co. During the war he fought for the northern states. After the war he was a member of Akron City Council for four years, then a member of the school committee for another four years. In 1874 and 1875 he was again active for Summit County. Between 1885 and 1887, Crouse was a member of the Ohio Senate .

In 1888 , Crouse was elected to the House of Representatives in Washington, DC , as representative of Ohio's 20th constituency. When he was running, he had already announced that he would only be available for one legislative period. He resigned in 1889 out of the Congress in order again for the C. Aultman & Co to work.

Crouse was married to Martha K. Parsons from 1859. They had five children together. Crouse died in Akron in 1912. He was buried there in Glendale Cemetery .
