William Wildman Campbell

William Wildman Campbell (born April 2, 1853 in Rochester , Windsor County , Vermont , †  August 13, 1927 in Napoleon , Ohio ) was an American politician . Between 1905 and 1907 he represented the state of Ohio in the US House of Representatives .

Career

William Campbell attended the common schools and then the Goddard Seminary in Barre and and the Tufts College in Medford ( Massachusetts ). After studying law and being admitted to the bar in 1878, he began to work in this profession in Napoleon. Between 1893 and 1896 he was a prosecutor in Henry County . At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party .

In the congressional election of 1904 Campbell was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the fifth constituency of Ohio , where he succeeded Democrat John S. Snook on March 4, 1905 . Since he was not confirmed in 1906, he could only serve one term in Congress until March 3, 1907 .

After the end of his time in the US House of Representatives, Campbell practiced again as a lawyer. In 1908 he applied unsuccessfully to return to Congress; in 1911 and 1912 he was a delegate to a constitutional convention of his state. He died on August 13, 1927 in Napoleon, where he was also buried.
