Tennyson Guyer
Tennyson Guyer (born November 29, 1912 in Findlay , Ohio , † April 12, 1981 in Alexandria , Virginia ) was an American politician . Between 1973 and 1981 he represented the state of Ohio in the US House of Representatives .
Career
Tennyson Guyer attended public schools in his home country. In his youth he performed at the Circus Hagenbeck-Wallace . In 1934 he graduated from Findlay College . He was also ordained a minister at that time. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party . Between 1940 and 1944 he was mayor of the city of Celina . From 1954 to 1966 he sat on his party's State Central Committee ; between 1959 and 1972 he was a member of the Ohio Senate . His main occupation was from 1950 to 1972 director of public relations at the Findlay-based company Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. From 1950 to 1957 he was a delegate at the regional party conventions of the Republicans in Ohio. In August 1956 he also attended the Republican National Convention in San Francisco , at which President Dwight D. Eisenhower was nominated for re-election.
In the 1972 congressional election , Guyer was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the fourth constituency of Ohio , where he succeeded William Moore McCulloch on January 3, 1973 . After four re-elections, he was able to exercise this mandate until his death from a heart attack on April 12, 1981 in Alexandria. The Watergate affair , among other things, took place during this period . He was buried in his native Findlay.
