Charles Adolph "Charlie" Wilson, Jr. (* 18 January 1943 in Martins Ferry , Belmont County , Ohio ; † 14. April 2013 in Boynton Beach , Florida ) was an American politician of the Democratic Party . From 2007 to 2011 he was a member of the House of Representatives of the United States for the sixth  congressional district of the state of Ohio.

biography

Charlie Wilson graduated from Ohio University . He also attended the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science , a college for undertakers in Cincinnati . Until his election to the Ohio House of Representatives in 1997, he worked as an undertaker. Until 2004 he sat in the Ohio House of Representatives. He was then a member of the Ohio Senate until his election to the US House of Representatives .

From 2007 to 2011, Wilson represented Ohio's 6th Congressional District in the House. He succeeded Ted Strickland, elected governor of Ohio . He was able to defend his seat in the 2008 election. In the 2010 election , he lost his seat to Republican Bill Johnson . Most recently he sat on the Committee on Financial Services and the Committee on Science and Technology . While at the House, he was a member of the Blue Dog Coalition .

Charlie Wilson lived in St. Clairsville . He was a Roman Catholic father of four sons. In February 2013 he suffered a stroke, of which he died on April 14, 2013 in a hospital in Florida. His son Jason is his immediate successor in the Ohio Senate.
