David Joyce
David P. Joyce (born March 17, 1957 in Cleveland , Ohio ) is an American politician . He has represented the state of Ohio in the US House of Representatives since 2013 .
Career
David Joyce attended West Geauga High School in Chesterland and then studied at the University of Dayton until 1979 . After completing a law degree at the same university and being admitted to the bar in 1982, he began working as a lawyer. Between 1983 and 1984 he was a criminal defense attorney in Cuyahoga County and then until 1988 in Geauga County . He then worked as a public prosecutor in this district from 1988 to 2013. Politically, he joined the Republican Party .
In the 2012 congressional elections , Joyce was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , with 54.04 percent of the vote in the 14th constituency of Ohio , where he succeeded the no longer-running Steve LaTourette on January 3, 2013 . There he is a member of the Grants Committee and three of its sub-committees. As he was re-elected in all subsequent elections, including the one in 2016, he can continue to exercise his mandate today. Its latest legislative term runs until January 3, 2019.
Joyce is married and has three children.
