Ada Rovatti

Ada Rovatti (born July 25, 1976 in Pavia ) is an Italian jazz musician ( saxophone , composition , arrangements ) who lives in New York City.

Live and act

Rovatti first learned classical piano before switching to the saxophone at school. After she won a scholarship, she studied at Berklee College of Music and accompanied stars like Phil Woods and Lee Konitz in big bands . Then she spent a year in Paris and toured Europe and Africa before moving to New York, where she worked with musicians like Mike Stern , Randy Brecker , Miroslav Vitouš , John McLaughlin , Anne Ducros , Bob Mintzer , Victor Bailey , Joanne Brackeen and Eddie Henderson worked. In 2003 she released two albums with her Elephunk Band and her quartet. In 2006 the album Airbop followed , which also received good reviews. She can also be heard on productions by Patrizia Scascitelli and Jason Miles.

Since 2001 she has been married to Randy Brecker, with whom she has a daughter and in 2013 she also performed with the Brecker Brothers . In 2011, 2013 and 2014 she performed with Randy Brecker at the annual "Jazz Cruise" in the Caribbean.

Prizes and awards

In 1998 she was honored as a young Italian jazz musician by the Jazz Contemporary School in Milan; the following year she received the Monviso Prize of the New York Famijia Piemontaise Cultural Foundation . In 2007 she received a prize for the best composition at the Piacenza Jazz Festival Note Di Donna .
