Ward Miller

Ward MacLaughlin Miller (born November 29, 1902 in Portsmouth , Ohio , †  March 11, 1984 ibid) was an American politician . In 1960 and 1961 he represented the state of Ohio in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Ward Miller attended Portsmouth High School and then studied at Ohio State University until 1923 . In 1931 he graduated from Harvard University . Between 1931 and 1933 he was on the editorial board of Bookman Magazine ; from 1935 to 1980 he worked in the real estate industry. He also served on the Ohio State Education Committee from 1955 to 1980. He was also a member of the Royal Institute of Philosophy of Great Britain. Politically, he joined the Republican Party .

After the death of Democratic MP James G. Polk , Miller was elected as his successor to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the by-election for the sixth seat of Ohio , where he took up his new mandate on November 8, 1960. By January 3, 1961, he was able to end the current legislative period in Congress . He did not run for the legislative period beginning January 3, 1961.

After his tenure in the US House of Representatives, Ward Miller continued to work in the real estate industry. He died on March 11, 1984 in Portsmouth, where he was also buried.
